The last comic that I truly loved was one called Y: The Last Man. It came out in 2002 and it’s about the only man to survive the simultaneous death of all the male mammals on Earth. The story was engrossing and smart and beautifully illustrated. Y was the first comic that showed me that comics can be just as literary as books. Add stunning visuals, and what’s not to love. A film adaptation is in the works, so if you’re like me and are of the mind that 99% of all adaptations are complete shit compared to the original version, then get your ass to the local comic store (or Amazon, but I’m trying to keep the comic book store alive) and pick up the trades. You won’t regret it.

Brian K. Vaughan is the genius behind Y, and now he’s brought us Saga – the story of a family on the run from the warring worlds they come from. Worlds that want them dead for the abominable act of loving each other. Vaughan’s universe is so vivid and crazy and rich with detail. And the creatures his completely insane imagination comes up with are mind boggling. Seriously. Chapter Seven, page 16 – what the f**k?! Again, his superb writing coupled with gorgeous artwork is the reason people love this series and why it was on so many critics Top 5 of 2012 lists. And let me tell you, it’s gonna be TORTURE waiting for a new chapter every month. Have I told you how impatient I am? Yeah, it sucks.

Any recommendations for me??? Leave them in the comments!
